In God’s plan for the Christian family, all members affirm that Jesus is Lord through their submission to and love for one another. Together, husbands and wives set the tone, displaying their love for Christ in giving themselves to the privileges and responsibilities of marriage. Children in turn display their understanding of Jesus’ lordship by respecting and obeying their parents. When everyone in the family follows this biblical mandate, it makes for healthy churches and stable societies.
In this study from Colossians 3, Alistair Begg reminds us that the Gospel not only alters our standing before God but also redefines our relationships with everyone and everything. This transformation shapes how we serve our families, enabling us to model Christ’s love for His church to our friends and neighbors as we live out the lordship of Jesus in our homes.
